"Never had a chance to try Egyptian Fateer. In fact this was first time hearing about them. It was such an experience! They are located inside of Karioka restaurant. They have reg. meaty stuffs, as well as vegetarian option, and dessert options too. (I believe they are halal.) The owner started making them as he got the order. It was cool to see him kneading dough super thin to make crispy layers. For one Fateer it was $19, but he used very generous amount of ingredients, so you'll be happy as you bite into them. Def recommending dine in so you can enjoy them right out of oven."
"The feteer (Egyptian pie-style pizza) has the perfect balance of crispy, chewy, and flaky. The fillings and ingredients are extremely high quality and super generous with the amount. Takes me back to the feteer from El Sa7el el Shamali (Egyptian North Coast). We got the Basturma (Egyptian Cured Meat), and the Custard feteers. The Basturma feteer was oozing with cheese. The Roumy cheese (Egyptian Cheese) has such a deep and savoury flavour that is accentuated by the salty Basturma, and complemented by the medley of fresh veggies. The custard feteer was a creamy, heavenly treat that is well balanced and not overly sweet. Both were absolutely perfect. Exceptional execution of a phenomenal food. Truly a slice of an underrated Egyptian dish. This place is a MUST try!"
"If you are looking for the best authentic egyptian pies....you have found the best of the best hands down.... When Emad knew I'm coming from Ottawa and despite he already finished for the day when I reached out to him, still he made everything I wanted .....food was super delicious but before I'll forever appreciate how he went out of his way to accommodate me when he knew it's my last day in Ottawa... It was an absolute pleasure and unmatched quality"
